In this tutorial we will show how to create a simple Web Application using Zend Framework in Netbeans. Netbeans is one of the most popular feature rich IDE for Java based development. It also provides extensive features for Web-based Application development using PHP and PHP based framework like Zend. To prepare your IDE for developing Zend application you need to Download Zend Framework and keep it in a known place such as Documents folder for easier to find out.
At first go to File->New Project, then a window will appear like below.
From the Categories section select PHP and from the Projects section select the PHP Application. Then click Next.
Now you need to enter your Project Name. You can specify the folder where we will create our project. If you have a local server installed in your computer then Nabateans will automatically find out the root directory. You can change the encoding where by default the IDE provides encoding as UTF-8. To put the IDE’s metadata from the project directory to a separate directory click the check box and show that directory through browse button. At last click Next to go to the next step.
In this step we specify the way that the project file will be deploy. Netbeans will automatically loaded all the filed if you have installed local server in your computer. You can also change or modify configuration from the Project Properties dialog box. So click next to go to the next step.
In this step you need to select the framework in which you want to develop your PHP project. Netbeans provides support for Symphony & Zend. After that click on the options link given in the dialog box. Then new dialog box will come like below.
Here you specify the place of the Zend script file. Click the Browse button and find our the location where you put the framework folder in your computer. You can get the script file through ZendFramework-x.xx.xx/bin/ and if you work on windows then select the zf.bat and if you work on mac/Linux then select the zf.sh file.
Now Click on the Register Provider button to run command from Netbeans IDE. After that click OK.
A confirmation dialog will appear which confirm your registration. Click OK and complete the setup process.
